I swapped my old RB20 engine and gearbox for 2 RB25 engines, one in working order and the other with piston damage for spares. After ordering a load of bits (N1 oil pump, iridium spark plugs, gaskets, etc) it was time to begin my RB25 engine rebuild. Unfortunately after spending a day dismantling both engines, I discovered that I hadn't actually received a working engine at all - in fact it had a hole in piston number 6 from serious detonation. Not very happy!Now I need to decide on my next step. Most likely is a rebore of the block and 1mm oversize forged pistons. Watch this space.Lesson learnt from this? Don't buy a 2nd hand engine without taking it apart and checking it all over. There are dishonest people out there that'll sell you all kinds of crap.Here's some pics of the engine that was supposed to be working:
